Lady Antebellum-Need You Now

2 Cents Worth

This Article is about Ron Flanagan, A Vietnam vet who is suffering from Cancer, and whose bone marrow transplant is being delayed because his wife made out the check for his insurance premium for 2 cents less than what it should have been. Because of that 2 cent error, his insurance was cancelled!  Thank goodness this has been resolved, but that's not the point.  Have our corporations become so anal that they would endanger someone's life over 2 cents?  Mr. Flanagan has to get back on the transplant list, and hopefully, he won't have to wait long.

The State Of The Union-From Billy

Some Of My Opinions on the State of the Union:

Economy-Getting better, but a bit too slow.

Health Care: If you want to revamp it, put your money where your mouth is.

Education- We are getting outlearned by other countries.  Perhaps we need to focus more on learning and less on standardized testing.

War In Iraq/Afghanistan- Is it worth it, or should we pull up and say you're on your own?

Environment- Something has got to be done about pollution.

Civility-So far so good, but how long will it last?

Govt. Spending-Get your priorities Straight.

I'd say the State is strong, but could be better!

As We Celebrate The Career…..

Of Martin Luther King Jr. this week, what do you think the state of race relations in the US is?  Since Dr. King’s time, things have improved, but they could be better.  There is still raceism  and prejudice towards other races, nationalities, and sexual orientations.  Will we ever have a society where people are judges on their character, and not their color?

Civility-From Billy

Political speech seems to have degraded into a shouting, name calling match like a bunch of school kids.  Just because we differ on political views does not necessarily  mean that one person is right and the other one is wrong.  A Democrat's idea might be just as good as a Republican's, though they may differ.  This does not give the 2 sides the right to go calling each other's names, and stir up their followers into a frenzy. This sometimes convinces the followers that violence is the only way to get their point through.  Back in the old times,  Politicians respected their political rivals, and when they disagreed  with them , they tried to hash our their differences, and when they couldn't, they just agreed to disagree, and let the matter rest.  People of both parties should try to imitate their predecessors in that respect.  The public is getting turned off by these antics. They elected their Senators and Congresspeople to do the work they're supposed to do, not bicker and act like babies.
