This Article is about a California School District that paid a company to monitor its students’ social media for signs of violence, bullying, truancy, drug use, and suicidal thoughts. This is a good idea, but should be used as a supplement to parental attention. Parents:
Keep the family computer in a common area, where you can keep an eye on your kids.
Be aware of who your children are friends of online.
Make them friend you, whether they like it or not
Make them give you their passwords, whether they like it or not
THE MOST IMPORTANT: Tell your kids that if anything happens to them that doesn’t feel right, they can come to you without and prejudgement! Listen to any concerns they have.
