Tune in to hear our Opinions about Religion, Politics, Current events, and life in general!
We here at Rantings think that Sony did the wrong thing by pulling their movie The Interview, about an assasination attempt on North Korean Leader Kim Jung Un from theaters, after Sony’s computers were hacked my a supposedly North Korean hacking group, and threats were issued. Should news channels that show materials that put certain countries and people in a bad light pull them if the same thing happens? NO THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY!!
For those of you who are protesting suspected police violence:
Looting and rioting and other violence will not get your point through. Not all cops are violent or racist, give them the benefit of the doubt!
It is totally disgusting the things that some people are saying about Sasha and Malia Obama. Leave them or the children of any political official alone! You can criticize the parents if you want to, BUT HANDS OFF THE KIDS!!!
It seems like the news media makes it look like there is death and destruction everywhere. If ISIS isn’t coming for you, you’re going to get Ebola, or some disgruntled person that goes postal is a middle east trained terrorist. Unless you’re on the battlefield, or in a Hot Zone, you’re probably safe, but it doesn’t hurt being careful and watching out for anything unusual.
Props to Kevin Vickers, the Seargant At Arms of the Canadian Parlaiment, whose actions today might have saved countless lives during today’s shooting.
The death of Michael Brown is a true Tragedy. An 18 year old cut down before he could experience life. What else is tragic is the looting and rioting. Please let the investigations be carried out, and if it is determined that Officer Wilson did use improper deadly force, then he should be prosecuted. Violence won’t bring Mike back, but reporters and peaceful protesters practicing their 1st Amendment rights should not be hassled by the police either!
Usually, we here at Rantings think that military action should only be used as a method of last resort, but in the case of the Religious minorities being slaughtered by ISIS, all countries need to band together to defeat these murderers!
Here Is a site that argues that parents are going way overboard when it comes to protecting kids. Just because you let your kids play outside, walk to school on their own, or spend the night at a friend’s DOES NOT automatically mean that they will be kidnapped, molested, or murdered. It’s OK to be wary, but let kids be kids and have a normal life!
Our thought and prayers go out to the families and friends of those killed on the Malaysian Airlines flight shot down over Ukraine. War does not discriminate between those fighting and the innocent. Hopefully, whoever was responsible will be brought to justice.
It is truly sad watching the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on TV. This fighting has been going on since the beginning of time and will probably go on till the end. Do they even remember what started all the fighting?
Sexting with 16 and 1`7 year olds while your son is cooking to death in your car.
Looked up “child free life” online
If all of this is just coincidence, then he has to be the unluckiest man in the world!
Some people just don’t need to be parents!
Before we condemn Bowe Bergdahl! If he did desert, he will face Military Justice.
It is totally unacceptable that the VA is being crooked when it comes to treating our ailing veterans. These people served their country, and deserve the utmost respect! Heads should roll.
1 qt. container with a lid
2 cups grated heavy duty bar laundry soap
1 cup washing soda
Pour 2 cups of grated heavy duty barlaundry soap, 1 cup of washing soda, and 1 cup of borax in a 1 qt. container that has a lid.
Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly, then cover with a lid until you need to do laundry.
Scoop out 2 tbsp. of your drylaundry detergent and toss in the washing machine as it fills up to get your clothes nice and clean.
Not that we here at Rantings approve of what Donald Sterling has said, but is it right for the NBA to take the Clippers away from him? We know it’s a business, but in this country, we don’t punish people for their speech. We shall see what happens…
Do you think parents are overprotective these days? It seems like kids can’t have a childhood these days. You probably could blame it on the news, as it seems like every day, you hear/see things about kids being kidnapped, molested, murdered, and otherwise abused. Concern is one thing, paranoia is another! Parents, while it is true that these things happen, it doesn’t meant that it will automatically happen to your child. Let them get out and play, just keep an eye on them, and teach them how to deal with strangers!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of those lost on Malaysia Flight 370. Hopefully, we will get some answers as to why it happened and if it was intentional, who was responsible. All available resources are being used, and everyone is doing their best.;
This article about a Michigan woman who died in the back of her car and wasn’t discovered for 6 months shows how perhaps we have become an uncaring society. Even if she had her bills auto payed, even if she traveled for her job, even if she had her mail put on hold, don’t you think one of her neighbors would have come over one day just to look and say hi, look to see if everything was OK? None of her family didn’t care that she never called or anything? Sad……
Do you think that the US should do anything about the Russia/Ukraine crisis? Sanctions? Diplomatic intervention? Peacekeeping forces? Or do nothing and let the chips fall where they may?
What do you think of the verdict in the Michael Dunne trial? He was found guilty of 4 counts of attempted murder for firing into a carload of teen boys, but the jury was hung on the count of murdering a boy who he said went after him after Mr. Dunne asked them to turn their music on. Some accounts have it at 10-2 to convict, some have it at 9-3. It is hard to understand. Perhaps Criminal Law needs to be simplified in how it is written to allow jurors to understand just what they can do.
This episode in a Utah elementary school, where several students had their lunches taken away from them and thrown away because their accounts were low or at negative balance could have been handled better on both sides. First off, perhaps the lunch line could be rearranged, with the students having their cards checked to see if they had enough funds on them. We know that it’s policy that the food had to be thrown away, as unseemly as it looks. And on the kids/parents side, did they really need to go on TV?
Over the past month, 2 heartbreaking stories have been in the news. First was the 12 year old California girl who was left brain dead after a seemingly routine tonsil removal operation, and the second was a young Texas mother who was pregnant with another child who became brain dead after suffering an embolism. In the first case, the girl’s parents are holding out hope that she will recover, and had her put on life support and taken to a rehab center, after having to go to court to force the hospital to continue treatment.. The second case is much worse. Because of the way the hospital interpreted a Texas law that says that life saving treatment can’t be witheld from a pregnant woman, the woman’s family had to go to court and show that the baby was not viable before they could get the hospital to agree to stop support. It may be uncomfortable to some people to talk about death, but it is helpful to tell your family what your wishes are in case you’re ever incapacitated. Get it put in writing!
That the New Jersey bridge scandal went on without Governor Christie knowing that his subordinates were behind it? It’s hard to believe, but we shall see!
